How Does The Transmission Cause Car Not To Start – Cause And Fix?

Auto Parts and Accessories · November 7, 2022

How does the transmission cause car not to start? Finding the actual reason depends on diverse factors. Sometimes it may get difficult for you to understand due to complicated reasons.

Well, it’s not a hard nut to crack anymore since you’re here. You can know the exact problem of your car transmission with the help of advanced technology and science.

Put simply, Transmission failure is the leading reason to stop your car from starting. Numerous aspects call into play behind it, including blocked filters, leaks, and poor maintenance.

To make it clear, I have divided each section of the article with meaningful layouts. So keep reading the article to gain insight on the topic.

How Does The Transmission Cause Car Not To Start

Transmission Problems & Causes that Prevent Car from Starting

The reason is not bound to only one thing. Plentiful causes make a failure. Facts and figures are given in the below table to make it transparent.

Take a look at the following table to know the cause of Transmission failure to not start the car-

  ProblemsCauses
Transmission filBter blockingA transmission filter is a filter that lets the fluid flow through the gear properly to ensure its overall function. When this filter is blocked by rust, fluid can’t penetrate the gear. As a result, it won’t function as well as it should and will damage the transmission.
Transmission superheatingTransmission gets overheated when the liquid or fluid is less for the machine to work correctly. In other words, the fluid helps the transmission to maintain the needed temperature. Additionally, it keeps the transmission cool and stops it from getting superheated.
The improper connection between the Engine and TransmissionWell, the improper signal is one of the significant issues why your engine has a transmission problem. Basically, what happens is that the engine sends a computer to do the needed procedure to shift gears. When this procedure can’t happen properly or get an improper signal from the computer, then the transmission won’t work, and hence the car will not start.
Transmission fluid leakageTransmission flow, put differently, is transmission leakage. Plenty of reasons are there for your transmission leakage. Crap stuck, worn seals, and cracking of the torque converter could be the main problem in the leakage or transmission flow.
Check engine lightThis is essentially a problem signal in your car. Underlying issues on the system make the check engine light sign you. This problem signals that you should immediately take your machinery for a check.

Signs Your Car Has Transmission Problems

Signs Your Car Has Transmission Problems

A transmission problem causing your car not to start is the worst sign you may come across.

But it’s not necessary that the parts in the transmission stop working immediately after its system crashes. Sometimes, it will give you prior signals to let you know that your transmission system has a problem and that it needs to be solved.

So, it’s imperative for you to take the signals seriously. And more than that, you should know what signs tell you that the car has transmission problems.

Take a look at the following list of signs that Transmission signals priorly:

  • Weird sound from the gearbox when you try to shift gears
  • You will get a burning stink. Yes, it is precisely what you might be thinking. This sound comes from superheating issues that give you a burning smell
  • Delayed response when you try to shift gears. A properly functioned transmission won’t delay or hang, just like some low-speed mobile phones. This signs that there are problems in your engine that need to be checked as soon as possible
  • When the check engine light blinks rapidly, the underlying issue needs to be seen and fixed
  • When you try to change gears by putting pressure on the pedal with your feet, it sticks or does not disengage from the engine. This is a big sign that you must understand when having such issues.

It’s not difficult to realize that other parts of your machinery could be the problem that causes transmission issues instead of the transmission itself. Sometimes other parts of your vehicle cause hazards that cause an improper function to not start your car.

The reason is apparent. The parts of every piece of component are connected, which sometimes become responsible for each other’s dysfunction. So, it would be best if you always took it for maintenance to ensure it’s working suitably in its all way.

How to Solve Transmission Issues

Have you ever wondered why Transmission problems occur at first sight? Problems or dysfunction never come automatically.  Several reasons come into play. The following issues are –

  • Poor maintenance
  • Not having enough fluids in the system
  • Overloading the Transmission
  • Superheating the Transmission.

So, it’s necessary to take proper care of the transmission, including other parts of your car. Take it for maintenance, be careful you have enough fluids in the system, and don’t overload or put extreme pressure on the gear that leads it to a failure.

So, above are the reasons why your Transmission could cause your car not to start. If you supervise the car appropriately, you can prevent your car from transmission failure.
